Frederickson Electric installs and maintains emergency power solutions ranging from portable generator hook-ups to your electrical panel, to propane or natural gas standby generators with automatic start during a power outage. We proudly sell and maintain Kohler standby generators, perennial leaders in Consumer Reports® tests.
Frederickson Electric has been serving customers in Jefferson, Clallam, Mason, and Kitsap counties since 1974. A generator is an important investment in your energy security. Part of the peace of mind that comes with owning a generator system is knowing that the installation company will be around for years to come when the system needs servicing.
Portable Generators
These are small generators that are fueled by gasoline or propane, suitable for lighting, refrigeration, and small appliances. To use these safely in your home or business, you’ll need a manual transfer switch that allows you to direct energy from your generator to your electrical panel. When the power goes out, you plug the generator into your panel with a special power cord, start the generator with a key or pull cord, and flip the transfer switch. These typically require careful management of loads, turning selected circuits off to avoid overloading the generator.
Smaller Standby Generators / Partial Backup
These stationary generators are permanently installed and fueled by propane or natural gas. Standby generator systems typically have built-in automatic transfer switches, so that when the power goes out the generator automatically starts and feeds energy to your electrical panel within seconds. Important loads are selected and wired to the generator for convenient and stress-free backup power. These generators exercise weekly, and an annual maintenance plan is available to ensure that the generator is ready during an emergency.
Commercial-Grade Standby Generators / Whole-Home Backup
For larger homes or commercial buildings, commercial-grade generators are available to ensure your entire home or business can continue to function normally in the event of a power outage. These feature liquid-cooled industrial-grade engines that are surprisingly quiet compared to the smaller generators.
Call our office to describe your backup power needs and we will help you select the right option for your budget. We can recommend which portable generators to consider and which to avoid. If you’re in the market for an automatic standby generator solution, we can design a solution based on a Kohler generator and customized to your needs. If needed, we can coordinate the complete installation, which typically includes gas and excavation work in addition to electrical.
After your new backup power system is installed, the team at Frederickson Electric is standing by to answer any follow-up questions you have, and to schedule regular maintenance to keep your generator in good working order so that you don’t get left out in the cold next time the power goes out!
